Funeral Rites of H.E. Count Juliusz Ostrowski, Bailiff of the Grand Cross of Honour and Devotion in Obedience.

A Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated in accordance with the regulations of the Order of Malta, was held on July 17, 2009, at 11:00 AM in the Basilica of the Carmelite Fathers in Piaski, Kraków. The lead celebrant was H. Em. Franciszek Cardinal Macharski, Bailiff of the Grand Cross of Honour and Devotion, with the participation of Most Rev. Bp. Józef Guzdek and the chaplains of the Polish Association of Knights of Malta.
The chapel, decorated with insignia of the Order, was filled with members of the family of the deceased, Knights and Dames of Malta in their liturgical robes, volunteers working with the Polish Association, and a host of friends.
H. Em. Franciszek Cardinal Macharski pronounced a moving eulogy.
After the mass, the President of the Association, H.E. Andrzej Potworowski, delivered an address commemorating the departed. He also read letters of condolences from the Grand Master, the Ambassador of the Order to Poland, and the Head Chaplain of the Polish Association.
Mr. Michał Szweycer read a letter from the Speaker of the House of Parliament. After that, Mr. Maciej Rudziński spoke on behalf of the landowners’ milieu.
After these rites, the coffin was conveyed in procession led by Knights and Dames to the hearse waiting in front of the chapel.
The burial ceremony at Rakowicki Cemetery in Kraków began with a procession from the cemetery gate to the gravesite, where the coffin was laid to rest in the family tomb.
